RESUMO

The aim of the study was to assess alveolar bone resorption in patients with periodontal disease and individuals with normal periodontal status and coordinate resorbtion rates with tooth mobility. Tooth mobility was measured in 19 patients with periodontal disease and 17 healthy individuals by two-parametrical periodontometry in two different positions: in equilibrium and after pre-loading. The level of bone resorption was determined by periodontal probe. Previously unknown correlation between tooth mobility and alveolar bone resorption was found out meaning that bone atrophy can be determined by tooth mobility.

RESUMO

The investigation is dedicated to study sources of the carotid reflexogenic zone innervation in 43 tortoises (Testudo horsfieldi and Emys orbicularis). In 7 tortoises fine preparation of the vessels and nerves of the cervical area after V. P. Vorob'ev has been performed. In 13 animals descending branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve has been resected. In 4--the caudal ganglion of this nerve and in 9 tortoises the caudal ganglion of the vagus nerve have been resected. In 10 tortoises adrenergic nervous plexuses are studied after Falck-Govyrin method, and cholinergic ones--after Karnovsky-Roots. As demonstrate anatomical investigations, to the carotid reflexogenic zone of the tortoises, situating in the area of the common carotid artery base, the branches of the glossopharyngeal and of the vagus nerve approach. The experiments with resection of these nervous conductors demonstrate that by the end of 3 days after the operation myelin nervous fibers of various thickness are at the stage of granular decay. Cholinergic and adrenergic nervous fibers and plexuses are revealed histochemically in the carotid zone.

RESUMO

The innervation of bony arteries was studied in 19 fishes (6 perches, 11 breams and 2 pikes) by the silver impregnation method after Kajal--Faworski and Bielschowski--Gross. In the first branchial arc as well as in others the receptors of two kinds were revealed: those having the main type of branching and diffuse arborescent vessels. In rare cases granular terminations were revealed. The number of terminations found in the first branchial arc was twice as great as that in each of the rest arcs. A characteristic feature of the sensory nerve terminations of the branchial apparatus in fishes is their arborescent structure, a diffuse disposition of terminal branches and absence of special cells from the receptor. The structure of the receptory terminations in the first branchial arc of fishes is morphologically similar to the de Castro Ist type sensory terminations which he has found in the carotid sinus wall of mammals.

RESUMO

The nervous apparatus of the carotid arteries was studied in 43 steppe turtles on both sides. In 31 turtles the nerve elements in total preparations were stained with methylene blue, its 0,1--0,25% solution being injected into the jugular vein. Within 30 minutes after injection of the dye the common carotid arteries were taken from the body, cut longitudinally and fixed in 5% solution of ammonium molybdenate during 18-24 hours. In 12 turtles the sections of from 35 to 90 mu thick were impregnated with silver nitrate salts after Kajal -- Faworski and Bielschowski--Gross. The nervous apparatus of the common carotid artery from its basement to the site of division into external and internal branches is represented by a well-developed small-looped plexus of nerve fibres and sensory endings of different shape which form receptory fields. The afferent sensory terminations of the main type and simple reseptory bushes were found in the adventitia superficial layer of the common carotid artery. Complex receptory bushes with a great number of terminal buttons and plates were found in the profound layer of this artery adventitia, and especially in its muscular layer. Glomerular receptors were also found in the common carotid artery of the turtle. But they were detected much more rarely as compared with bushy endings.
